Dr Ann Tan brings a wealth of experience to Virtus Group as the Medical Director of Virtus Fertility Centre Singapore and is responsible for the high level of medical standards, laboratory operations and treatment quality the centre provides.
A Public Service Commission Scholar, Dr Tan has been the recipient of several prestigious awards in her field of specialisation, including the HMDP Scholarship for Fetal Echocardiography at Yale School of Medicine in 1995, the Young Investigator Award by the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics & Gynaecology in 1995 and the Young Investigator Award at the International Scientific Meeting of Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists in 1993. She was also awarded the Public Service Medal for her contributions with the Singapore Council of Women’s Organisations in 2012.
Dr Tan is a dedicated Obstetrician & Gynaecologist in the field of prenatal diagnosis and care of both mother and fetus. She is the first Singaporean gynaecologist to hold a Diploma of Fetal Medicine from the Fetal Medicine Foundation and was also the first to introduce the First Trimester Pregnancy Screening in Singapore in 2003.
Led by her strong passion for women’s health and social issues, she invests her time in serving on the Women’s Health Committee with Health Promotion Board and the Families for Life Council. As a strong voice for education and empowerment in Singapore, she also serves on the board of Halogen Foundation, where she supports youth self-leadership and entrepreneurship.
Dr Tan is a firm believer in public education and is an advocate for open discussion on fertility issues. She believes that couples should be empowered with knowledge from an early age, and that fertility should be approached as a purposeful journey, one to be well-prepared for. Good lifestyle habits and dietary choices are definitely important for to be parents.
