Ms Padmini Sugumaran is a Clinical Embryologist at Virtus fertility Centre Singapore. Padmini obtained her Honors in Biomedical Sciences and a Masters in Clinical Embryology from Monash University, Australia in 2012. Since then she has been living her dream of building a career in the field of clinical embryology helping couples achieve conception and start a family.
Padmini understands that being an embryologist comes with the huge responsibility towards her patients at every step of their fertility journey. She takes pride in handling the gametes and embryos of patients with prudence and provides high level of quality care using the latest technologies and assisted reproductive techniques available at Virtus.
With her exceptional inter-personnel skills, Padmini is able to connect very easily and effectively with her patients. She plays an important role in helping couples through their fertility journey by making it less arduous through pre-IVF consultations and Patient Information Events.
Padmini has an immense passion for her work in the field of reproductive sciences. She continues to keep abreast of the latest developments in this field through her research interests and attending local and international training workshops and conferences.

Languages: Padmini speaks fluent English and Tamil.
Research Interests: Padmini’s honors thesis focused on identifying genetic variants of abnormal sperm morphology. She has also done poster presentations on the effects of ageing and cryopreservation on sperm DNA. Her research interests include genetic factors contributing to fertility and emerging gene-editing technologies. She is currently involved in laboratory investigations on live births from testicular sperm of men with poor sperm DNA integrity.
